Apologies all for not updating you on our progress since my last post in July, as you can imagine, it’s been very hectic. Combined with my own uphill battle with various mental and physical health issues, time slips away very quickly, especially when you have a sleep disorder. Unfortunately due to time constraints, it has also meant I haven’t been able to start blogging myself and share my story with you, something which I will be dedicating some time too in the Autumn.
Since I last updated you all, we have had some amazing developments coming our way very soon which I will reveal in a few weeks, I am please to announce we have gained two new contributors, Louise Bown and Hope Virgo who you might have seen on the news recently discussing her experiences with eating disorders. They will both be blogging with us hopefully in the coming months.
I am also please to have met some new like minded organizations this month who will be supporting our project and sharing our content. If that wasn’t enough, we also had time to launch our new sensory toy store, Gizmonatics.com which will be expanding later this year. All funds raised from our store will directly fund our project and ensure we can continue our work.
To put a cherry on top, we were awarded a spot on the top 60 Mental Health blog, which is amazing in itself, but given we haven’t even finished the website yet, makes it an even bigger victory.
Thanks to the amazing Wes, I have also been given the opportunity to start promoting AMHA with Fixers which you can catch on ITV or visit there website fixers.org.uk. They have recently published a short article about myself and the work we are doing with AMHA (link below) With a press release coming in September.
http://www.fixers.org.uk/news/16221-11208/autism-and-mental-health.php
A final launch date has been decided for the 12th September, despite setting three dates to launch so far this year, which we have missed, this time round we will be launching finished or not. As our site grows, it will always be changing, and improving, but I now feel confident we have the bare minimal to advertise our site, ready for your stories and experiences.
I hope that if you are a regular reader, you will have explored our site by now, if this is your first time welcome, please search around, see what we have been up to. Don’t forget to like, share and comment on social media and help spread the awareness.
I also want to encourage anyone on the Autistic Spectrum and, or Mental Health to come share your story with us. The point of AMHA is to create a safe, friendly, caring environment, something you would not get from social media or blogging sites like Reddit. Our site has been built from the ground up to create a useful, well thought out resource which can be accessed by anyone, anywhere at your own convenience, there are no fees, subscriptions, adverts, just stories from real people on the front line battling life with Autism and Mental Health.
Don’t forget to keep checking in, our site is growing by 10 pages of content a week at the moment, with lots of refinements and bug fixes going on, if there is something you think could be improved or you have an idea about new content we could feature or add to an existing page, please get in touch at info@amha.org.uk I would love to hear from you.
Keep smiling
Sonny
